Hello forum,

I've been working on a Beavis and Butt-Head hack for SoR3. Thought I'd throw it out there, see what you think and get hopefully some help/guidance to finish this off.

Things left to do and some of the challenges I'm encountering;

Sounds
Need to optimise wav files as they sound quiet when I insert them and barely audible. Any info on bit rates, and how to up the volume would be appreciated.

Animations
Tidy up of some animations, especially Butt-Head - encountering sprite corruption issue in Pancake 3 so going back in to do this is problematic. I'm guessing this is a 'start again' situation but would rather avoid this if possible.

Font/Text
I'm guessing the font can be change in TLP and the onscreen text in a hex editor? If there are any tools that can short cut this I would be interested.

Splash/Intro screen
I've tried using a tool called 'AddIntroGen.exe', not had much joy with importing BMP files. I can't really find any documentation on this but if you know of any or know what format the tool accepts this would be helpful.

Yes, accounts here have to be at least one week old before they can start sharing links.

- I use GoldWave or Wavosaur to increase the volume of my wav files. Make sure their sampling rate is 22050 or lower and that they're Mono, so that you have more space within the Sound Banks.

- You can always generate sprites over old art addresses, such as 50000 (where Axel's art is located). Have a calculator in handy. So what you would do is for example, generate a sprite at address 50000, the art address would be something like 50036, add 1000 to the art address' value (beneath the field that says "Generate Sprite") so that would be 51036, rinse and repeat.

- Unlike SOR2, SOR3's font is compressed at address 2695D0. As for editing text, refer to this page. SOR3 requires you to open specially made table files to edit its text.

- I'd suggest not using AddIntroGen, because pressing the Reset Button on the system would freeze the game.

Thanks for the detailed reply, very useful and appreciated. I've been able to update the text.

I've been using replace a bit more than generate, i will revisit my workflow for future hacks.
